Time Changes

A time to kill, And a time to heal;

A time to break down, And a time to build up;

Ecclesiastes 3:2(NKJV)

“A time to kill” ? Why would there be a time to kill?

 First part of pics from Kodak camera001

There are many ways to kill. The obvious one, taking the life of someone. But, there is also the killing of dreams and ideas, and innocence. A child dreams of Christmas morning, waking to presents to open. A young girl dreams of the day she marries and her dad walks her down the aisle. A newly wed couple dreams of the family they will raise.

 In the world today, all too often, the child wakes to find nothing to open, it’s just another day. The young girl has her dream of her wedding day lost among the sadness of losing her dad to disease or death, no one to walk with her down the aisle. The couple, after trying for years, try to accept the idea of not having a family to fill up the house, to never hear the sound of childrens laughter.

Over time, these people build up walls around their lives. Words that are said to make others so that no one sees the pain inside… “It’s okay, I really did not want a bicycle.”… “Life goes on, I will get over all of this.”… “We can travel, we can see the world! There will be nothing to keep us at home.”  After saying these words to others, even they start to believe them. All of these things build up the walls that are put in place to keep others out of their hearts and lives. Before life can really move on, before the healing begins, the walls need to come down.

“I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
 He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord.”

Psalm 40:1-3 (NKJV)

 We need to realize that the way to break down the walls is to build up trust. We have to allow people inside our walls before the healing and hurting will stop. We have to trust God to know what we need. We have to wait for Him and look for the ones He sends to us to help us break down the walls, heal our hurt and build up the life that He wants us to have.

Breaking down the walls starts with one small stone at a time, making a hole in the hurt. Eventually, the walls fall faster and faster.

With His love and help, the child learns the true meaning of Christmas, and sees that gifts of time and love are the most wonderful gifts to give and receive. The girl on her wedding day, realizes that even though she might be walking down the aisle alone, her Heavenly Father is with her, guiding her along the way to a life He has prepared for her. The young couple discovers that even though, at this time in their lives, they might not have a child in their home to raise, God will send other children and people that need a guiding hand, and the couple will find purpose in helping others to see His will for their lives.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself,

and our God and Father,

who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation

and good hope by grace,

comfort your hearts and establish you

in every good word and work.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NKJV)

 All these things are sent by our Father to help us heal and help us to know how to help others build up their faith and trust and love for Him. Things happen, life happens, death happens, but God is forever and He is always there to hold us when things come up. He will always love us and care for us in our time of healing and He will definitely cheer us on as we are building up our life and all of those around us.  Just take a look around, the world is full of beauty and the glory of His love!

Changes

New Beginnings…

 “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,

For wisdom and might are His.

And He changes the times and the seasons;”

Daniel 2:20-21a (NKJV)

Someone recently told me that I should write. They did not tell me what to write, how to write, or when, just said to write. So, where to start? At the beginning is as good a place as any! Well,over the next few postings, I will start at the beginning. Although I have not seen the end, eventually there will be one, so, I hope you enjoy the stories and pictures of some of life’s changes in my life! With that being said, here is the first “installment” of that advice.

“To everything there is a season,

A time for every purpose under heaven:”

Ecclesiastes 3:1(NKJV)

In life, we live with changes. Most made from our own doing and our own decisions. Sometimes… it is because of what others are doing or saying.  And then there are those times that come upon us from what unexpectedly happens.

“A time to be born, And a time to die;

A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;”

Ecclesiastes 3:2(NKJV)

We move through many seasons in our lives.

 The season of being new, just starting. All the world is a place to discover and things are so exciting. A small child sees things with fresh and bright eyes.

The discovery that if you jump into a puddle, you will see showers of water falling all around. And you get to feel the summertime mud between your toes. Or, looking close into the eyes of a frog, not knowing when it will jump. Butterflies and rainbows hold the pleasures of the day. You know that at the end of the day, someone will be there to take you home, clean you up and give you something to fill you up so that tomorrow you can do it all again! The faith is there, inherently, that you will be taken care of.

Along the way, you see flowers that are so pretty that you pick some to share, a gift for someone else to see. Maybe an apple on a tree or berries on a bush make for a great snack during your adventures. As time passes, you learn where the plants came from; that from a small seed, trees grow and produce apples, or bushes grow berries and vines create grapes. You also learn that it takes time to get from the seed to the fruit. The seeds get planted in dirt, that you only thought was just good for mud pies. Then, as the seedling starts to grow, the rain of life comes down, the sun shines its rays to warm the plants and help them grow. Each seed produces what God meant for it to be, and each is part of His plan for food and nourishment for us.

“Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed,

and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind,

whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.

And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind,

and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind.

And God saw that it was good.”

Genesis 1:11-12 (NKJV)

Looking at the plants, you know that the berries and fruits will be so good, but then… you learn… it takes time. Each morning, you wake and look, hoping that today will be the day! Oh well, nothing yet, so you play, look for more puddles, more trees to climb, frogs to catch, always knowing that someone will still be there to take care of skinned knees, hungry stomachs, being tucked in when your eyes can no longer stay open.

Suddenly, one morning when you looked, wow, berries, ripe and ready! Apples ready for making a pie! So excited, you take your first taste of the fruits that you waited for, seemingly forever, and they are the best thing in the world.

So now, even as a small child, you have learned that some things take time, you have to be patient. You have learned, (even though you might not see it yet), the faith that someone is watching over you and taking care of your needs. The innocence of a small child should not be taken away. This faith should be remembered. The changes of the world will happen soon enough, for some sooner than I think is necessary. Memories of childhood should be happy ones, not dependant on money or things, but all that God, our Heavenly Father, put here for us to enjoy. Children know well the happiness of looking for a 4-leafed clover, or walking in the rain and looking for the biggest puddle. Maybe as adults we should look for our biggest puddle and just jump in, feet first and looking at all the wonderful showers that happen around us!
